Dear Lucille,
Each day is so painful as the situation about Shayne remains unresolved. Her packages are still sitting on the couch, unopened. I haven't laid my eyes on her for 3 months. The whole situation was undermined by the policeman who called and who didn't write up the report that she is believe missing or in some kind of funny hostage-like condition. (That was one police out of three; the other two policemen seemed for more responsive. But the third policeman was the boss.) Shayne is never at her house when we try catch her there and I don't know where she is staying. All three phones that I have here do funny things and can't get through to "her" usually. The law here states that a person must be missing for 5 years before an attorney can regulate left-over affairs concerning them. I shudder with repulsion at her father and how he handled a large sum of money he recently made over to her in a trust fund, which runs out in 3 years. I begged Tom to put the money in a joint account that I shared with Shayne but he wouldn't do it. Now the money can be drawn upon without us knowing who is drawing it. And the Post Office has recently initiated a couple of schemes to make it easy for people to take over the postal bank cards of other people, by allowing them tobmake a card for themselves by uploading their photos to the Internet. So if someone has possession of her card and number, they can make an ID card for themselves, using Shayne's information. I want to go to the US, as my health is considerably improved for the moment. I can't to stay here with Tom under the circumstances. I can't bear the evil of this situation. I have no idea what I am going to do or what I can do. I guess nothing. Poor Shayne.
